CALGARY EATS

I was commissioned to photograph Calgary Eats, sequel to the bestselling cookbook Calgary Cooks. This book was made in appreciation of one of Canada’s most exciting food scenes, and one that I've grown up alongside. It was important for me to show the lesser known side of Calgary. Not only does the city have a world-class culinary scene, its creative and visual arts community is flourishing. The book is a celebration of growth for Calgary and Alberta.

I worked with Stylist Kaitlin Moerman to create a colour-palette from Alberta’s landscape. Backdrops painted from the colours found in historic paintings; blue-bird skies, fields of wheat, the show-stopping sunsets, and glacier-fed lakes. I commissioned a line of ceramics from a collective of unique and talented ceramicists housed within Workshop Studios. The linens, created by Textile Artist Irene Rasetti, were dyed with food waste. The combination of elements and people, brought together a work that is truly beautiful and Calgarian.
